William Grant launches Drambuie TV advert
By Melita KielyWilliam Grant & Sons has released its first Drambuie TV advert since acquiring the Scotch whisky liqueur brand earlier this year.
William Grant has launched its first TV ad for Drambuie since taking over ownership of the brandSet in 1960s New York City, the commercial has been created by New York agency Opperman Weiss and is called, Found Film.
The advert depicts a previously unseen 8mm film reel shot behind the scenes at a recording of a Drambuie adaptation of a 60s jingle “Scotch and Honey”, which includes the lyrics: “Scotch and Scotch and Scotch and honey, a little spice and you’re in the money. It’s Drambuie.”
It includes an original Drambuie bottles from the era perched on a drum kit behind which a backing singer, played by actress Amy Cook, is spinning on a stool before hitting the cymbal on the last word “Drambuie” before the film ends.
Broadcast for the first time in the US on Monday night, two 15 and 30 second versions of the advert have been created and will be aired throughout the Christmas period.
“We are incredibly excited about our latest addition, Drambuie and look forward to maintaining and building on the success of one of the world’s best known Scotch whisky liqueurs,” said Shane Hoyne, global brand director for Drambuie.
“This stunning work from Opperman Weiss, which was created in less than a month, shows the richness of the Drambuie brand and further adds to our enthusiasm for what 2015 holds when we will build on re-establishing the credentials of Drambuie and reigniting its Signature Serve ‘The Rusty Nail’.”
William Grant confirmed it had acquired Drambuie for an undisclosed sum in September.
