Knob Creek Bourbon has offered to host a “Bourbon Summit” proposed for US president Barack Obama and republican Mitch McConnell on Repeal Day.

Knob Creek Bourbon has proposed to host a “Bourbon Summit” for president Barack Obama

The offer came as Obama said he would “enjoy having some Kentucky Bourbon” with Republican senator for Kentucky McConnell after voters rejected the Democrats in the mid-term elections, with the Republicans taking control of Congress.

Knob Creek, owned by Beam Suntory, has now publically offered to host a “Bourbon Summit” on 5 December – national Repeal Day celebrating the day Prohibition ended.

Other groups offering to support Obama’s summit include the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the Kentucky Distillers’ Association and the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS).

In 2012, the US Ambassador to Australia Jeffrey Bleich revealed he planned to introduce Obama to Tasmanian whisky.
