Hottest bar openings in October 2014

Europe dominated the global scene last month, with stylish and innovative new drinking dens popping up in Paris, Madrid and Copenhagen, finds BarChick.

We’ve enlisted the help of BarChick to help us scour the globe and scout out the best bars which opened last month

However, New York also made a splash with the beautiful and classy new Raines Law Room, which features a build your own Old Fashioned menu. Meanwhile, Hong Kong also welcomed its own offshoot of the “world’s best bar”, the Artesian at The Langham Hong Kong.

In Denmark, one revered bartender has placed a modern drinks laboratory inside an 18th Century building – a theme reiterated in Madrid’s new high-tech drinking den. Cocktail cognoscenti are also sure to swarm to the latest Parisian offering from the bartending brains behind the world-famous Sherry Butt.

The Raines Law Room at The William – New York

Offering the same level of cocktail know-how and subtle, sexy vibes at the new Raines Law Room as the original, you’ll just have to relocate yourself to Murry Hill to The William Hotel. It’s a somewhat grand with beautiful fireplaces but BarChick’s favourite bit is the a build your own Old Fashioned menu, which is us kept busy on a rainy afternoon.

Balderdash – Copenhagen

Geoffrey Canilao of Employees Only and The Union has branched out and opened his own multilevel space in an 18th century building in Copenhagen. With a drinks lab and kitchen, it’s all about innovative flavours, ideas and collaborations, working closely with the local restaurant scene, which is only the best in the world.

Artesian – Hong Kong

Arguably the world’s best bar, the Artesian has spread its wings and opened up shop in the newly refurbished Langham Hotel in TST. The venue features 10 classics from the London menu, though with none of the theatrics. While the now-iconic UK bar is sure to hold onto its authority in the bar world, this is a stylish yet understated sister venue.

DOMO Bar & Lounge by Cabrera – Madrid

The flagship NH Collection Eurobuilding is a multimillion high tech so-called ‘Living Lab’ of a hotel. But the top floor bar is where it’s at with top bartender Diego Cabrera’s masterpiece where his award winning team mixing up Madrid’s best cocktails and 99 Sushi Bar next door providing the bar snacks.

Dersou – Paris

Paris is in the midst of a bar boom and its latest epic opening, Dersou, is the love child of Sherry Butt’s barman Amaury Guyot and chef Taku Sekine of Saturne and Clown Bar. Due to open on November 15th, this new spot in ever-cool Bastille will be a cocktail-themed restaurant with cocktail tasting menus and good time vibes.
