Jägermeister hosts gig on an iceberg

Jägermeister has made history by hosting a gig with British metal band The Defiled on a giant iceberg in freezing conditions.

The German herbal liqueur brand flew the band out to their unique venue to promote their signature cold shot serve.

To reach their stage, The Defiled were flown into Iceland before being ferried to Kulusk in Greeland and over to the island of Tasiilaq, from where they began their search for an iceberg that was big and thick enough to carry them and their instruments.

Due to the icy conditions of the environment, the gig’s crowd was understandably small, and consisted of locals who have worked alongside the icebergs for years.

Band member Stitch D said: “This has to be one of the most insane gigs we’ve ever played. You see these things on TV documentaries but it’s not until you get to see them in real life that you realise just how big and amazing icebergs are.”

Jägermeister captured the event using octocopter flying drone cameras, which were controlled remotely by the nearby boats.

The gig comes two years after Jägermeister broke the Guinness World Record for the coldest gig ever, when they flew ex-Busted singer Charlie Simpson to Siberia in 2012 to perform in -40C conditions.

The venue, in Oymyakon, is the coldest permanently inhabited place on the planet, and can get so cold that mobile phones cannot function.
