Jack Daniel’s whiskey is petitioning the US Postal Service to have its founder immortalised in a stamp to celebrate the brand’s 150^th anniversary.

In 2016, the distillery is celebrating the 150^th anniversary of receiving official registration from the US government in 1866.

To mark the occasion, the brand has sent a letter to the US Postal Service requesting that a stamp is created bearing the image of its founder, Jack Daniel.

The letter stated that hat the request for a Jack Daniel stamp met the subject selection criteria, including being an American, honoring those men and women who have made extraordinary contributions to American society and celebrating events of historical significance.

“Mr. Jack was a remarkable man and we think a stamp would be a fitting tribute,” said Jeff Arnett, Jack Daniel’s master distiller.

“Jack’s life is a classic American story, setting out on his own at an early age to become the founder of what would become our country’s oldest registered distillery.”

Last month, Jack Daniel’s revealed plans to give away a kilo of gold through a competition to promote the launch of its new No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey.
