Cointreau Noir set to launch in the UK

Rémy Cointreau is launching Cointreau Noir, a combination of the group’s eponymous liqueur with Cognac, in the UK this week.

Cointreau Noir will be revealed to the UK market this week

Spearheaded by Cointreau’s master distiller of 30 years, Bernadette Langlais, Cointreau Noir is a unique blend of Cointreau orange liqueur and Cognac Rémy Martin.

It was inspired by Majestic, a spirit originally created by Édouard Cointreau in the 1900s – and has been macerated with walnuts and almonds to bring out “even more sophisticated aromas and complexity”.

Langlais chose to rename the spirit Cointreau Noir, to reflect the “density and darkness” provided by the Cognac and the spirit’s “uniqueness”.

“I’m delighted to be involved with London Cocktail Week 2014,” said Cointreau. “The London cocktail scene has been gaining momentum over the last few years, with ever increasing standards and numbers of knowledgeable customers, the city presents an exciting and important part of the Cointreau story.”

Cointreau Noir will be unveiled at an exclusive tasting held by Alfred Cointreau, global brand ambassador and sixth generation of the Cointreau family, at Mr Fogg’s, London, on Thursday.

The new release carries an RRP of £40 per 700ml bottle.
