Chivas fires up stills at new Dalmunach Distillery
Chivas Brothers’ newest Scotch malt distillery, Dalmunach, is set to begin producing liquid this month for the group’s blended whiskies, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and Royal Salute.

The Speyside distillery is capable of producing 10 million litres of spirit per year from four sets of stills that are shaped to replicate those from the Imperial distillery, which previously occupied the site.
The stills have been positioned in a circular design as an aesthetic feature.
The distillery also features 16 stainless steel washbacks plus a 9.5m diameter mashtun.
Dalmunach, which is named after a nearby pool in the River Spey, is Chivas Brothers’ 14th malt distillery and has been built using environmentally-conscious technology such as heat recovery systems.

The Imperial distillery, which occupied the site up until 2012, lay unused for 16 years prior to its demolition.
