Chief executive of Morrison Bowmore steps down
By Amy HopkinsThe chief executive of Morrison Bowmore Distillers, producer of Glen Garioch and Auchentoshan Scotch whiskies, has stepped down from his role.
Mike Keiller, CEO of Morrison Bowmore, has left the company, reports claimAccording to Herald Scotland, Companies House filings state that Mike Keiller, who has worked for Morrison Bowmore since 2000, and non-executive director John McLaren have resigned from their posts.
The news comes as the spirits portfolios of Japanese drinks group Suntory, owner of Morrison Bowmore, merges with that of US company Beam Inc, creating Beam Suntory Inc, which is headquartered in Illinois.
Suntory acquired Beam, producer of Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Courvoisier Cognac, for US$16 billion in January this year.
As part of the integration, Suntory’s international spirits operations, including Morrison Bowmore, Mozart Distillerie and Louis Royer, will now be run under Beam Suntory.
When the news of the integration was announced, Matt Shattock, CEO of Beam Suntory, said: “We are structurally one company as of today, which will enable us to put strong plans in place so that we hit the ground running in 2015.”
Morrison Bowmore has not yet responded to The Spirits Business’s comment requests.
