Berry Bros unveils rare ‘exceptional casks’

Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirits has released the inaugural bottles from its new Exceptional Casks Collection, including a 50-year-old Scotch whisky and 35-year-old rum.

UK wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd has released four rare spirits as part of its Exceptional Casks Collection

Four expressions have been released as part of the collection of rare spirits: North British Single Grain 50 Year Old, 1977 Jamaican Rum Overproof (35-year-old), and two single casks of 1972 The Glenlivet single malt (41-years-old).

The North British bottling was taken from two remaining sister casks in December 2012. Described as having notes of melon, vanilla, nectar and spice, there are only 472, 58.9% abv bottles available at an RRP of £500.

There are 170 bottles of The Glenlivet 1972 Cask #1072 (53.2% abv) and only 40 bottles of Cask #1081 (46.1%) available for £650.

Finally, just 110 bottles of the 60.5% abv Single Cask 1977 Overproof Jamaican Rum are available for £500 as part of the collection.

“Our philosophy when choosing casks for the collection is to provide unparalleled quality; we take immense pride in this,” said Doug McIvor, spirits buyer for Berry Bros. & Rudd.

“This extraordinary and very limited range will showcase some of the most remarkable expressions we have released to-date.”

The Exceptional Casks Collection is available from this month at Berry Bros. & Rudd.
