Bartenders badly injured in police chase crash

Two US bartenders have been seriously injured after a stolen pickup truck crashed into their bar during a high-speed police chase last week.

On Thursday 23 October, a stolen Ford F-250 crashed through the front of the Dover Gardens Tavern, in Westlake, Ohio, pinning two bartenders against a wall, The Chronicle-Telegram reports.

The truck’s driver, Brandon Pawlak, was fleeing police as he was suspected to have stolen the vehicle from Avon Lake.

The female bartenders who were injured during the crash, Kelly Deutschendorf and Bethany Cappasso, remain in serious condition in hospital.

The bar’s owner Gary Hurst told The Chronicle-Telegram that  Deutschendorf suffered internal injuries and two fractured hips, while Cappasso suffered liver damage and multiple fractures.

Driver Pawlak, 26, faces multiple charges while Matthew Snowden, 26, also faces charges after being accused of aiding Pawlak.

A total of 12 people were injured in the crash.
