Sailor Jerry recruits Iggy Pop for new fashion line

Punk rock star Iggy Pop has teamed up with Sailor Jerry rum once again to launch a limited edition clothing collection.

Iggy Pop is to launch a new fashion line in collaboration with Sailor Jerry rum

In the second of Sailor Jerry’s collaborative annual fashion lines, musician and actor Iggy Pop has created a collection inspired by the tattooed brand founder Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins.

Last year Sailor Jerry collaborated with Paul Simonon, of The Clash fame, to created a limited edition leather jacket in 2013.

This year’s Flash collection by Iggy Pop will feature three limited-edition items, including an iconic denim vest. Further details of the collection and the other two items will be revealed in October.

“When I was asked to be involved with the latest Flash Collection, I was intrigued right away. I fell in love with the pin-ups. Sailor Jerry’s pin-ups are the best,” said Iggy Pop, who first rose to fame as the front man of punk rock band The Stooges.

“Bringing his stuff to life for a collection of limited edition clothes was something I totally wanted to be a part of.”

In July this year, Sailor Jerry launched a new US$5 million campaign, called Life Outside the Lines, featuring Iggy Pop and a number of real-life bikers.

“Having Iggy Pop on board for this year’s Flash Collection is a huge deal for us,” said Enda O’Sullivan, global brand director for Sailor Jerry. “Iggy is not only a talented musician, but also a respected style icon whose rebellious approach to life is exactly what Sailor Jerry stands for.

“Having seen initial designs, we are really excited about Iggy’s vision and can’t wait to unveil the collection in Miami this October.”

This year’s Flash Collection will be available in a handful of selected stores around the world and on www.sailorjerryclothing.com from October 2014.
