Rare Damien Hirst cider brandy up for auction
By Melita KielyA limited edition bottle of Somerset Cider Brandy designed by artist Damien Hirst has been donated for auction to raise money for three charities.
This rare bottle of Damien Hurst Temperley Cider Brandy will be auctioned for charityThe rare 20-year-old brandy, which has an abv of 42%, will be auctioned at an evening ball on 31 October hosted by Flooding on the Levels Action Group (FLAG), with proceeds going to charities Khalsa Aid, Water Aid and Much Thorn Floodwings.
The brandy was made by cider brandy maker, Julian Temperley, whose daughter – designer Alice Temperley – requested Hirst to design the label in 2011.
Hirst’s design was created to celebrate the drink winning Protected Geographical Status from the EU in September 2011.
“I have already had tweeted interest from abroad for a phone bid,” said Mark Rosales, fundraising and events for FLAG.
“This is a limited edition, and sought after by collectors for owning an original piece of art work by Damien Hirst, as well as a fantastic brandy.
“If you know of any brandy collectors or art collectors this is a very special item.”
FLAG is an organisation campaigning for better water management in Somerset, UK, following the sever flooding that occurred in early 2014.
