Grace Jones cocktail goes on sale for £9,000

A cocktail created in honour of James Bond actress Grace Jones has been launched at a restaurant in London’s Mayfair priced at nearly £9,000.

A cocktail crafted in honour of actress Grace Jones will cost the buyer £8,888

‘The Gigi’ was created in honour of the 007 actress who appeared in 1985 Bond movie, A View to Kill, and was unveiled at the opening of Gigi’s restaurant in Mayfair last week, which Jones attended with Boy George.

Made with a bottle of 1990 Vintage Cristal Champagne and 1888 Samalens Vieille Relique Vintage Bas Armagnac, topped with an abundance of gold leaf, The Gigi is described as “liquid gold” and costs £8,888.

The eye-watering price tag accounts for the cost of each full bottle of alcohol, which can produce approximately 12 glasses worth £708 each, or £177 per gulp based on four large mouthfuls, according to the restaurant.

It is the latest in a long line of expensive tipples to grace the bar scene, including a US$50,000 cocktail sold earlier this year at a Russian ice bar that contained three 4-carat diamonds.

However, the official Guinness World Record title for the world’s most expensive cocktail is currently held by Melbourne bartender, Joel Heffernen, who created a drink last year worth AUS$12,500 (£8,200).

Heffernen took the title from former record holder, Salvatore Calabrese, whose creation, Salvatore’s Legacy, cost £5,500 a glass.
