Suntory Whisky has collaborated with renowned designer Akira IsogawaReleased on 21 August in time for Father’s Day on 9 September, the traditional Japanese gift-wrapping linen cloth has been exclusively designed by Akira to promote the expansion of Suntory Whisky in Australia as part of the brand’s marketing campaign titled, The Art of Giving.
Furoshiki has been deemed a fundamental part of Japanese culture for more than 2,000 years, but has recently become popular in the country as an environmentally friendly way of wrapping gifts.
Akira’s inspiration for the scarf’s design is said to stem from the role water plays in the creation of whisky and its pattern “signifies the passage of water in nature”.
Just 300 bottles of Yamazaki 12 Year Old, Hakushu 12 Year Old and Hibiki 17 Year Old are now available for purchase in selected speciality retailers throughout Australia, including World of Whisky and Nick’s Wine Merchants.
