National roll out for Brooklyn-inspired Jura

Whyte & Mackay has rolled out the Brooklyn-inspired extension of its Jura Scotch whisky brand across the US following an exclusive run in New York.

Jura’s single malt Scotch whisky inspired by Brooklyn has rolled out across the US

Jura Brooklyn has been created by master distiller Willie Tate in collaboration with a number of Brooklyn “artisans” and whisky fans who took part in blending sessions and food pairings.

Described as a single malt whisky “created for Brooklyn, by Brooklyn”, the no-age-statement expression includes liquid aged for up to 16 years in American oak, Sherry butts, and Pinot Noir casks.

“We are proud to have executed a project that has never been attempted before in the Scotch whisky world,” said Tait.

“We’ve developed a totally new whisky liquid in collaboration with artisans, craftsman and pioneers in the place where food and drink trends are born— Brooklyn.”

Some of the whiskies used to make Jura Brooklyn are said to reflect the “distinct flavours of Brooklyn’s heritage”, with notes of berries, smoke, figs, coffee and honey.

The expression is now available for selected retailers across the US at an RRP of US$79.99.

In May this year, Philippines-based drinks producer Emperador acquired Whyte & Mackay from India’s United Spirits for £430 million.
