Glenmorangie owner records strong profits

The Glenmorangie Company, owner of Ardbeg and Glenmorangie Scotch whiskies, saw sales grow almost 6% last year to £70.1 million.

Ardbeg Ardbog, released in 2013, was the fastest-selling limited edition from the distillery, selling out online in under 14 hours

The Edinburgh-based group, which is owned by France’s LVMH, said it was “very encouraged” by demand for its single malts, which it would “strengthen and consolidate” in the coming year in international markets.

The group’s sales, which were driven by a major marketing campaign in Asia, boosted profits by 17% to £15.3m.

In accounts filed with Companies House for the year ending 31 December 2013, the group reports the total value of its whisky stocks to be £115m, up from £101.7m in the previous year.
