Wenneker releases new Elderflower Gin
By Becky PaskinDutch spirits group Wenneker has developed a new Elderflower Gin to appeal to growing consumer interest for both gin and elderflowers.
Unveiled in Amsterdam and London this summer, Wenneker Elderflower Dry Gin is created from six distillates: juniper, lime tree blossom, lemon, orange, coriander and elderflower.
Its flavour is described as “fresh and clear with the taste of elderflowers”, and a hint of vanilla.
The product, which is bottled at 40% abv, will only be produced in small batches of 1,200 700ml bottles that are individually numbered.
Richard Ridley, export director for Wenneker, said: “The overall opinion of both the Dutch and the British on-trade was very positive: a distinguishing dry gin with a lovely floral note that comes close to a perfume.”
The group, which has produced genever since 1693, suggests serving the gin with tonic or in a Martini.
It will be available in the Netherlands, UK and Italy for around £25 for 700ml.
