Polugar gains UK distribution with Emporia
By Becky PaskinTraditional Russian “bread wine” Polugar has secured distribution in the UK for the first time through Emporia Brands.
Polugar is now available in the UK through Emporia BrandsThe range, based on research gathered by Russian vodka historian Boris Rodionov, comprises of three single grain distillates and four infusions, all of which have been triple-distilled in copper pot stills.
The single grain distillates – single malt rye, wheat, and classic rye, have been clarified using egg whites and purified using birch wood charcoal before being bottled at 38.5% abv.
As copper pot stills have been prohibited in Russia since 1895, production takes place in Poland at the Rodionov & Sons Distillery.
In addition to the three grain distillates, Polugar’s four Infusions expressions will also be available in the UK: No.1 Rye & Wheat, No.2 Garlic & Pepper, No.3 Caraway, and No.4 Honey & Allspice.
All four are bottled at 38.5% abv in 500ml bottles and based on traditional recipes found by Rodionov using natural, raw ingredients.
The Polugar range is already available to purchase at The Drink Shop and Hedonism Wines. Polugar has been listed with Hedonism Wines since 2013.
