Bacardi names Cruise Competition finalists

Six of the best bartenders in the business have made it through to the final of the annual 2014 Bacardi Cruise Competition.

Bacardi has announced the six finalists of its 2014 Bacardi Cruise Comepetition

Due to take place on 5 September ,this year’s competition tasked entrants to create bespoke cocktails based on the theme “Inspired Cocktail”, using inspiration from travel, cruises and ferries.

From a 25-strong list of semi-finalists, a panel of Bacardi judges selected five of the recipes to go through to the final, while the sixth recipe was given to the People’s Choice category, which received nearly 40,000 votes.

The six finalists are Brian Bent of Carnival Liberty; Allan Garcia of Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Cruise Lines; Joeped Garrido of Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Cruise Lines; Liisi Kutt, M/S Victoria I, Tallink Silja Line; Ioana Luncean of Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Cruise Lines; and Vera Restarovic of Carnival Conquest, Carnival Cruise Lines.

“The Bacardi Cruise Competition is ultimately designed to help recognise and appreciate the importance of the craft of the on-board bartender, elevating the standards of cocktail making and guest experience,” commented Zachary Sulkes, Bacardi Travel Retail Americas regional manager.

“We are delighted with the first time involvement of Cruise Critic and the success that it has driven as witnessed by almost 40,000 votes from the guests of our cruise partners for the people’s choice.”
