Diageo announces more changes to exec team
By Melita KielyDiageo has announced yet more changes to its executive committee, as it continues its focus on key markets India and China.
Sam Fischer will replace Gilbert Ghostine as president of Diageo India and Greater ChinaThe news comes as Gilbert Ghostine, president Diageo India and Greater China, and formerly chief corporate development officer, announced today that he has accepted a role outside Diageo and will be leaving the company after 19 years on 30 September 2014.
The news comes just months after Ghostine took on the role of president Diageo India and Greater China.
Sam Fischer, who currently holds the position of managing director of Diageo Greater China, will replace Ghostine as president of Diageo India and Greater China.
Anand Kripalu, CEO United Spirits Limited (LSL) will also join the executive committee, reporting alongside Fischer to Nick Blazquez, president Diageo Africa and Asia Pacific.
Additionally, John Kennedy, president Diageo Western Europe, will also become president Diageo Europe, taking responsibility for Russia, Eastern Europe and Turkey.
“The changes we have announced today signal a further shift in Diageo from an organisation based on regions to one which puts accountability in the markets,” commented Ivan Menezes, chief executive.
“I congratulate Sam and Anand on their promotion to the executive committee and look forward to seeing the further impact which Nick and John will have on Diageo’s performance given their new and wider roles.
“In his time with Diageo, Gilbert has provided strong leadership to many areas of our business across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
All changes will come into effect from 1 September 2014.
