Caorunn now UK’s 2nd largest super-premium gin
By Amy HopkinsIndependent Scottish gin Caorunn claims to have overtaken Diageo’s Tanqueray No.10 to become the UK’s second largest super-premium gin brand.
Scottish gin brand Caorunn has overtaken Tanqueray as the UK’s second best-selling super-premium gin brandCiting figures from International Wine and Spirits Research (IWSR), the brand has said it has overtaken Diageo’s gin, which received a makeover earlier this year, with sales of 8,000 nine-litre cases sold in 2013, compared to Tanqueray’s 6,500.
The brand now sits behind William Grant & Sons’ Hendrick’s gin, which is currently the UK’s largest super-premium gin brand.
“Our new status as the second biggest super-premium gin in the UK is a major stepping stone for Caorunn Gin and a huge success considering the competitive category and great investments of larger brands,” said Ibolya Bakos-Tonner, Caorunn Gin global brand manager.
“It is a very exciting time for Caorunn Gin and we look forward to further expanding distribution in the UK and increasing penetration globally.”
Caorunn is a small batch Scottish gin made in Speyside’s Balmenach distillery using a range of botanicals including rowan berry, heather, coul blush apple and dandelion.
