Albion Racing Club malt gets Oz distribution

New British spiced malt brand Albion Racing Club has made its first foray into  international markets after signing a distribution deal in Australia.

Albion Racing Club British Spiced Malt has gained its first overseas distribution deal

Albion Racing Club – described as a spiced malt which appeals to younger generation drinkers – first launched in the UK in March this year with listings in Fortnum and Mason and Gerry’s.

The brand has now signed a deal with Australian importer and distributor Luxe Wine and Spirits, which specialises in sourcing boutique wines and spirits from across the globe.
The first consignment of Albion Racing Club Spiced Malt is set to arrive in Australia in July, with the first bottles on sale from September.

Its launch in the country will focus on premium bars and specialist drinks retailers, with an on- and off-trade national roll-out starting in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Justin Wright, co-founder of the brand, said: “We only celebrated our UK launch in March, so are thrilled to announce our first international distribution deal within three months of operations.”

Hand-made at an independent distillery in Cambridgeshire, Albion Racing Club is five-times distilled in copper pot stills and then steeped in vanilla pods, raisins and coffee beans.

The spirit is described as having “some characteristics of whisky” but made “more accessible to non-whisky drinkers” through a sweeter flavour profile.

To support marketing efforts, Albion Racing Club will host two races every year: one in the summer and one in the winter. The first of its races, called Meribel or Bust, was recently documented in a short film.

“We have always kept an eye on the market and the latest spirits releases worldwide and Albion Racing Club. definitely caught our eye,” said Greg Kiss, managing director of Luxe.

Albion Racing Club showed an exciting new angle in the brown spirits category with its philosophy of excitement and adventure. After we approached the boys for a sample, we were sold.”

Albion Racing Club British Spiced Malt carries an RRP of £29.99 per 50cl bottle and £39.99 per 70cl bottle.
