London’s highest bar opens at The Shard

Gong, London’s highest bar, has opened this month at The Shard 52 floors above ground level.

Gong at The Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard is now the highest bar in London

Part of the newly-opened Shangri-La Hotel at the city skyscraper, Gong adopts a Chinese-style theme, complete with a series of intimate chambers, exposed wooden brackets and a dramatic infinity “skypool”, which will open for the summer.

Head bartender Henning Neufeld has created a seasonal cocktail list featuring spirits from some of London’s distillers, including Sacred and Dodd’s Gin.

Drinks, which are available from £15, include The Big Smoke (Dodd’s Gin, Grand Marnier, Tio Pepe, Mancino Rosso Amaranto) and Black and Blue Swizzle (Talisker, honey, lime, PX Sherry and blue cheese).

A Champagne list and bar snack menu will also be served. The bar operates a minimum £30 per head spend policy on Wednesdays-Saturdays.

Gong also joins the hotel’s patisserie and deli offering, Lang, on the ground floor, and fine-dining European and Asian restaurant and lounge Ting on the 35th floor.
