Langley Distillery director dies unexpectedly
By Amy HopkinsAlcohols Limited, owner of the Langley Distillery, has announced that the director of its distillery division, Peter McKay, has died unexpectedly at the age of 50.
Peter McKay, director of the distilling division at Alcohols Limited, has died unexpectedlyPeter worked in the drinks industry since 1981, with roles at Carlsberg, Maison Caurette and The Grosvenor Wine & Spirit Company, before joining Alcohols Limited in 2002.
He died suddenly while on holiday two weeks ago.
“I recruited Peter 12 years ago and he worked tirelessly for the good of the business and especially the drinks industry,” said Adam Wallis, managing director of Alcohols Limited.
“Peter was an exceptional character, colleague and golfing partner. He was respected by everyone, not least those within the company, his customers and all those who knew him.
“His wealth of knowledge was second to none – he was the consummate professional and will be sadly missed.”
An active Liveryman with The Worshipful Company of Distillers, Peter was a member of The Gin Guild and also sat on numerous judging panels in vodka and gin competitions.
Peter is survived by his parents and two older brothers.
