Historic battle commemorated by Captain Morgan 1671 Spiced release
Diageo has launched a second limited edition commemorative blend of its Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum in the US.
Captain Morgan 1671 spiced rum will be available for a short period only
Following the release of Captain Morgan Sherry Oak Finish Spiced Rum in June 2013, the British drinks group has launched Captain Morgan 1671 Spiced Rum in celebration of the historic sea battle at Panama City, in which the legendary captain himself lost five ships.
With a unique blend of spices creating flavours of chocolate and dark fruit, the 35% abv blend is finished in Spanish oak casks once more.
“The Captain Morganbrand for many has become synonymous with adventurous and memorable nights of celebration, but most don’t realise that the man behind our spiced rum was actually one of the most successful privateers of the 17th century,” said Tom Herbst, vice president of marketing, rums for Diageo North America.
“Captain Morgan 1671 Spiced Rum is our way of paying homage to our brand’s namesake and the date he lost his treasured flagship.”
The expression is available for a limited period across the US for an RRP of US$19.99 for 750ml.
