González Byass launches London No. 1 gin in US
By Melita KielyIndependent wine and spirits producer González Byass has launched super premium London No. 1 gin in New York and Florida in the US.
London No. 1 gin from Gonzalez Byass is now available in the USInitially launched in Spain in 2005, the London dry style gin “grew by 253% between 2011 and 2013” and according to Nielson has a total market share of 12% in the super-premium gin category.
“This is one of our first of many projects towards expansion into the US market,” said Jorge Grosse, CEO of González Byass.
“With the gin and tonic trend exploding in Spain and the continued interest in super-premium spirits in the US, the timing couldn’t be more appropriate to bring London No.1 to the US.”
Distilled at Thames Distillers in London by master distillery Charles Maxwell, London No. 1 is made from 12 key botanicals, including juniper, coriander, angelic root, lemon peel, liquorice, cinnamon, almond, savoury iris root, orange peel and bergamot.
It is quadruple distilled to produce a “full-bodied, modern gin” with notes of balsamic herbs, spices, juniper and truffle.
Bottled at 47% abv, London No. 1 gin is imported by Vin Divino, a subsidiary of Gonzalez Byass, and retails at an RRP of US$38.99.
