Edrington joins Discus to strengthen US presence
Edrington, producer of The Macallan Scotch whisky and Brugal rum, has joined the Distilled Spirits Council of the US (Discus) following the launch of its American distribution arm last week.
The Macallan owner, Edrington, has become the 16th member of Discus
The Scotland-based drinks group, whose brands also include The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark and Highland Park Scotch whiskies, has become the 16th member of Discus.
The group last week established a wholly-owned sales, marketing and distribution company in the US, named Edrington Americas, to “significantly” strengthen its route to market.
Edrington Americas has already secured distribution agreements with Charmer Sunbelt Group, Martignetti Companies, Republic National Distributing Company, Wirtz Beverage Group and Youngs Market Company.
“Edrington has remarkable brands and a business model that is unique to the industry,” said Discus CEO Peter H. Cressy. “It is committed to Discus’s values of social responsibility and responsible alcohol consumption, and we look forward to its participation in our deliberations.”
Edrington Americas is headquartered in New York, with regional offices in Dallas, Chicago, Miami and Orange County.
