Two spirits shortlisted for Scotland Food & Drink Awards
By Melita KielyTwo spirit producers have been shortlisted under the Best New Alcoholic Drink category for the Scotland Food & Drink Business Awards.
The Feathery Scotch has been short listed for Best New Alcoholic Drink in the Scotland Food & Drink Awards along with Crossbill GinPincer Vodka in Glasgow has been shortlisted for its Crossbill Gin, while Spencerfield Spirit Company Ltd in Fife has been listed for Scotch whisky The Feathery.
Alex Nicol, managing director of Spencerfield Spirit Company said: “We would be delighted to win this award for The Feathery as this is the first expression of an ancient artisanal range we are developing, celebrating original Scottish craftsmanship. The whisky is like the original golf ball – lovingly handcrafted.”
The shortlist has been whittled down from 115 food and drink entries, entered by 102 businesses from all over Scotland.
The awards celebrate “excellence” in Scottish food and drink across 21 different categories.
Scottish television presenter Kaye Adams will host the awards at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 22 May in front of a crowd of 700 guests.
“These awards celebrate the best of Scottish food and drink products and businesses, recognising the quality of produce and excellence in a range of fields from innovation to sustainability and the development of health initiatives,” commented James Withers, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink.
“We look forward to the biggest ever awards ceremony and dinner in May at which we will toast the success of the industry and reveal the overall winners in the company of a record number of attendees – 700 of food and drink’s finest will come together at this sell out night.
