Chocolate is one of the world’s most popular flavours, but it has only recently made headway into the flavoured spirits market.
While vodka is the undoubtable flavoured spirit category dominator, boasting an array of chocolate variants, the flavour has also been, somewhat surprisingly, used by Tequila, absinthe and whiskey producers.
However, many consumers will turn to liqueurs provide the ultimate, decadent chocolate spirit experience.

Baileys Chocolat Luxe
Last August, Baileys announced the “ground breaking” step of marrying real chocolate with Irish whiskey for its Chocolat Luxe bottling, exciting chocolate enthusiasts the world-over.
A luxurious blend of Belgian chocolate, cream and Irish whiskey which took three years to develop, the new expression was designed to replicate the experience of drinking melted chocolate.
Perfect for indulgent relaxing over the Easter holiday, this is a dangerously drinkable liqueur needs no Easter egg pairing.
Bottled at 15.7% and containing 30g of Belgian chocolate in every 500ml bottle, Baileys Chocolat Luxe carries an RRP of £16.99.

Baileys Orange Truffle
Initially released as a limited edition over the Christmas period in 2012, Baileys Orange Truffle is now available through various online retailers and makes moreish sipping over the Easter weekend.
A blend of Baileys Original Irish Cream and orange truffle flavour, the liqueur is described as a “zesty sensory sensation”.
Baileys recommends that its orange variant is enjoyed over ice, in a hot chocolate, or as part of a “chocolatini”.
Bottled at 17% abv, Baileys Orange Truffle carries an RRP of £13.25 per 70cl bottle.

Mozart R.G. Chocolate Cream
Heralded as the “most exciting launch in years”, super-premium milk chocolate liqueur Mozart R.G. Chocolate Cream has been raved about by chocolate fans since its release in August last year – and even looks like an Easter egg.
Salzburg, Austria-based Mozart Distillerie created the Mozart R.G. Chocolate Cream expression for its Mozart Chocolate Liqueur range in celebration of its 60th anniversary this year.
The delicious liqueur, which was awarded Master in our Travel Retail Masters 2013, is a blend of Belgian chocolate, Forastero and Trinitario cocoa from Ghana, Madagascan vanilla, cream, cocoa butter and alcohol.
Other variants in the brand’s chocolate liqueurs range include Mozart Chocolate Cream Gold, Mozart Chocolate Cream White, Mozart Chocolate Pure Black and Mozart Chocolate Spirit Dry.
Bottled at 17% abv, Mozart R.G. Chocolate Cream carries an RRP of €27.99 per 700ml bottle.

La Maison Fontaine Chocolate absinthe
Looking for something a little different this Easter? Then French absinthe producer La Maison Fontaine’s chocolate-flavoured variant might suit you.
The bottling is based on a Crème de Cacao recipe found in 1920s recipe books at the brand’s Pontarlier distillery in France.
Described as having “a sweet richness combined with apparent notes of absinthe and chocolate”, the variant joined La Maison Fontaine’s core range in January 2013.
Bottled at 25% abv, La Maison Fontaine’s chocolate-flavoured absinthe carries an RRP of £30.25.

Crave chocolate liqueurs
For those who enjoy a twist to their chocolate, try one of Beam Inc’s Crave chocolate liqueurs range.
Created by John DeKuyper & Sons, flavours in the collection are: Chocolate Cherry, Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Chilli.
Beam describes the liqueurs as balancing chocolate notes with natural flavours. The company suggests they are used either over ice or in a cocktail.
Bottled at 15% abv, the three liqueurs carry an RRP of US$17.99.

Olmeca Fusion Dark Chocolate Tequila
Although not as mould-breaking as chocolate absinthe, Olmeca Altos Fusion Dark Chocolate Flavour Tequila is certainly a spirit for chocolate fans with a slightly more adventurous side.
First launched to entice young adventurous consumers into the Tequila category, the bottling is described as having an aroma of creamy dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted hazelnut and vanilla, followed by herbal notes from the Agave.
There is only one other product in the Olmeca Fusion range – Hibiscus – which also has an abc of 20% and is available in Greece and Austria.
Bottled at 20% abv, lmeca Altos Fusion Dark Chocolate carries an RPR of £ 15.25.
Stolichnaya Chocolat Razberi Vodka
Part of Russian brand Stolichnaya’s popular flavoured vodka collection, Stolichnaya Chocolat Razberi will give your chocolate booze enjoyment a fruity edge.
The variant is described as featuring sweet, rich milk chocolate and clean vodka characters in balance with ripe tart fleshy raspberry, creating a creamy-silky texture on the palate.
Stolichnaya suggests that is is enjoyed as part of the Stoli Choco Raz Cake Martini, consisting of 2 parts Stoli Chocolat Razberi, 1 part fresh lemon juice, 1 part hazelnut liqueur.
Bottled at 37.5% abv, Stolichnaya Chocolat Razberi Vodka carries an RRP of £20.35.
Stolichnaya Chocolat Kokonut Vodka
A combination of natural flavours of milky coconut and chocolate with a smooth vodka, Stoli’s Chocolat Kokonut Vodka would make for luxurious sipping over Easter.
With hints of vanilla and roasted hazelnut, the variant is described by Stolichnaya as and “original union of exoticism and indulgence”.
Stoli claims that its Chocolat Kokonut Vodka can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as part of mixes and cocktails.

Pinnacle Chocolate Whipped
Part of Pinnacle’s confectionary-flavoured line of vodkas, this bottling spikes the original Pinnacle vodka with creamy chocolate flavours.
Following on from the success of Pinnacle Whipped Cream, Pinnacle Chocolate Whipped is described as a “light, sweet combination of chocolate, vanilla and cream”.

Kings County Distillery Chocolate “Flavored” Whiskey
Said to be the world’s only chocolate-flavoured whisky, Kings County Distillery’s Chocolate “Flavored” Whiskey appeals to dark spirits fans with a sweet tooth.
The limited edition bottling is created by infusing Kings County Distillery Moonshine with the leftover cocoa husks from Mast Brothers Chocolate, a Brooklyn-based craft chocolate company.
The result is a unique, full-flavored spirit offering rich, bittersweet notes of dark chocolate backed by the distinctive corn and cereal notes of the moonshine.
Kings County Distillery is New York City’s first licensed whiskey distillery since Prohibition.
