Russian Standard Vodka launches in South Korea

Russian Standard has capitalised on South Korea’s growing thirst for vodka by launching in the market at the end of 2013.

Russian Standard Vodka hopes to capitalise on South Korea’s burgeoning thirst for vodka

The country’s vodka category has recently experienced significant growth having more than doubled in the past two years to 248,000 nine-litre cases.

In partnership with distributor Keumyang International, Russian Standard Vodka became available in the country in December.

The launch was marked by two events, the first of which was held on Christmas Eve at the Woo bar in the W Hotel, followed by the second event which took place on New Year’s Eve.

Since 2008 Keumyang has distributed Gancia, an Italian sparkling wine brand acquired by Russian Standard in 2011.

In June last year, Russian Standard completed its acquisition of Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC), making it the world’s second largest vodka producer by volume.
