Ian Burrel extends Rum Experience University

Global rum ambassador Ian Burrell has announced that his Rum Experience University will become an annual course following following a sell-out debut year.

Launched this year by Burrell, founder of UK RumFest, the Rum Experience University is an intensive four-day course which invites rum enthusiasts, journalists, brand ambassadors and bartenders to expand their core knowledge of the spirit with theoretical and practical training from teachers and speakers.

Specifically, students are tutored on how to speak effectively in public, how to prepare and execute a rum presentation, and learn how to make a “world class” rum cocktail.

“It took a lot of time, hard work and planning to launch the Rum Experience University this year and I am so please that it has paid off and created a hugely successful experience and education for all who attended,” said Burrell.

The course takes place next to the Ron Montero Distillery, Europe’s last remaining rum distillery based in Salobreña, Spain, and attendees will gain a recognised diploma qualification.

Burrell continued: “There is no course like this out there and we cannot wait to continue to enroll students eager to learn about the culture and history of rum and give them an industry recognized qualification that will help with their future careers.”

Limited places costing £899 are now available for the Rum Experience University in September 2014.
