Douglas Laing & Co releases charity Scotch

Douglas Laing & Co has launched its annual charity bottling to support retired and active servicemen through the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Only 762 bottles of the Braeval 12 Year Old Single Sherry Cask will be available to purchase across the world. Each bottle features a hand-drawn label depicting a Spitfire LO-Q by Professor Dugald Cameron, former head of the Glasgow School of Art.

The Scotch whisky producer has close ties with the RAF since its founder, Douglas Laing, flew with the RAF Coastal Command throughout the Second World War.

Fred Laing, Douglas Laing’s managing director, said: “The association between Sergeant Fred Douglas Laing and the RAF Benevolent Fund was irresistible for me as I recollect how proud he was of his war service in the RAF.

“I hope this iconic Spitfire drawing on the label, allied to a great Scotch Malt dram and the wonderful cause of the RAF Benevolent Fund will make this bottling a real ace.”

Non-chill filtered and bottled at 46.8% abv, the whisky is said to have notes of butterscotch, fruit, cinnamon and barley.

All profits from the expression, which carries an RRP of £45.99, will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
