Diplomàtico unveils vintage rum from record year

Ron Diplomàtico is releasing its Single Vintage 2000 Rum this October, a bottling of select Venezuelan rums produced from a single year’s sugar cane harvest.

The vintage is a vatting of several barrels laid down in the year 2000, a year known for its rare weather conditions that contributed to a successful sugar cane harvest.

Particularly high daytime temperatures followed by very cool nights, coupled with high humidity and low rainfall helped create one of the best harvest in Venezuelan history.

Diplomàtico Single Vintage 2000 has been aged in Bourbon and single malt whisky casks before being rested in Spanish Sherry casks.

Tito Cordero, master blender at Diplomàtico, said: “It´s a truly unique limited edition, a vintage that we are really proud of at Ron Diplomático, having let a specific harvest shine naturally and develop its own personality.”

The vintage was unveiled at Bar Convent Berlin this week and Moscow Bar Show, as well as at private launches in Brussels, Amsetrdam and Prague. It will also be showcased at Rumfest in London on 12-13 October.

Diplomàtico Single Vintage 2000 will be available to buy from the end of October for an RRP of £80.

Its launch follows that of the Diplomàtico Single Vintage 1997 in late 2012.
