Paddy’s Centenary Edition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Paddy’s Irish whiskey brand

The limited edition single pot still is a 7-year-old whiskey presented in vintage-style packaging designed to reflect the style of the early 20th century when the Paddy brand was first created.

Paddy Centenary Edition has been produced using “the best of old and new whiskey-making techniques” and is described as having typical pot still whiskey notes of rich spice and vanilla.

Brendan Buckley, global innovation and category development director for Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, described the release as an important step for the brand.

“Paddy Irish Whiskey has reached this impressive milestone thanks to its loyal fans across the world who love its great taste and its authentic Irish character, which stem from Paddy Flaherty’s enigmatic and memorable style.

“One hundred years on, we wanted to honour the man himself and his contribution to the brand’s success. We believe this new limited edition is a fitting tribute to Paddy and the original recipe he sold, and we hope Paddy fans around the world will enjoy discovering the story of Paddy Flaherty and toasting 100 years of this iconic Irish brand with this unique special edition.”

First distilled in 1779, Paddy Whiskey was originally sold under the name Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whisky, but was renamed Paddy in 1913 in homage to salesman Paddy Flaherty who travelled from pub to pub to market the brand.

The edition will be released in September 2013 in travel retail, as well as at specialist domestic retailers in Ireland and France at an RRP of €75.
