Teeling Whiskey Co releases celebratory single malt

To mark a historic Irish event, the Teeling Whiskey Company has released a limited edition single malt whiskey.

In celebration of The Gathering event in Ireland, The Teeling Whiskey Company has released a limited edition 11-year-old single malt exclusively to the travel retail sector

The 11-year-old expression is the second single malt release by the company and was exclusively created for the Irish Whiskey Company in the travel retail sector.

It has been launched to commemorate The Gathering, a year-long celebration of Ireland, its people, and its connections abroad, which starts this month.

The expression – simply entitled The Gathering Single Malt Irish Whiskey – is bottled from hand-selected Bourbon casks with no chill filtration to ‘preserve mouth-feel and flavour’.

Jack Teeling, founder of the Teeling Whiskey Company, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to work with The Irish Whiskey Collection to craft this very special whiskey to commemorate the Gathering.

“From its robust fruity nose to its layered flavour profile The Gathering bottling is a celebration of everything good about Irish whiskey.”

It is hoped that the limited edition will appeal to both visitors to Ireland during The Gathering, as well as connoisseurs and collectors.

A hand-crafted batch of only 1,000 bottles will be available to purchase exclusively from The Loop in Dublin and Cork airports.

Jean Ann Taylor, head of retail for The Loop, said: “The Irish Whiskey Collection has become a real talking point amongst visitors to The Loop and we are confident that the launch of The Gathering is going to generate real excitement, both in Ireland and overseas.

“The Loop has been involved in many Gathering events this year and it is fitting that we now have a legacy product to commemorate 2013.

“The Gathering Irish Whiskey allows us to offer an impressive gift or collectable that will take pride of place in any collection, if it lasts that long.”

The expression is bottled at 46% and comes with an RRP of €69.95.

This release comes two months after Teeling launched its 21-year-old Silver Rescue as part of the Vintage Reserve collection.
