Oddka oddly-flavoured vodka arrives in UK
By Becky PaskinPernod Ricard is to launch its Oddka Vodka range of unusually flavoured vodkas in the UK in September.
Just five of the nine Oddka Vodka flavours will be launched in the UKHaving first launched in the US in October 2012, the range, which features wacky flavours such as Electricity and Fresh Cut Grass, was rolled out to France, Italy and Austria soon after.
With the Christmas party and gifting season on its way, Pernod Ricard is lining five of Oddka Vodka’s nine flavours up for release in the UK: Fresh Cut Grass, Electricity, Salty Caramel Popcorn, Melon and Peach.
The remaining flavours not due to be released in the UK include Wasabi, Original and Apple Pie, after consumer research found they would not work as well.
Oddka Vodka will lead in the UK with Electricity, for which Pernod Ricard has devised a signature shot-style drink: the Lightning Bolt, consisting of a shot of Electricity vodka swiftly followed by consuming popping candy, a serve which will be driven in the on-trade.
The range will only launch in 500ml bottle sizes, to encourage consumers to try more of the range at a more affordable price of £9.49-£11.49.
Pernod Ricard also plans to roll Oddka Vodka out to additional markets by the end of this year, including Switzerland, Portugal, Holland, Ireland, Sweden and Greece.
