Four Roses new release toasts to 125 years

Four Roses bourbon is celebrating its 125th anniversary with the release of a second limited edition Bourbon later this year.

The Four Roses new release will be available in the US from this September

The Kentucky distillery announced that the second celebratory edition expression will be a Limited Edition Small Batch Edition which follows a single barrel bourbon released earlier this year.

Four Roses master distiller Jim Rutledge selected three of the distillery’s bourbon recipes to create the new barrel strength, small batch bourbon. This includes an 18-year-old recipe and two 13-year-old expressions which offer a complex fruity, spicy and creamy taste.

The bourbon is said to exhibit aromas of creamy vanilla, light oak and cherry cordial, with hints of nutmeg and cocoa, while flavours of raspberry, apricot, vanilla bean and cherry are pertinent on the palate.

Jim Rutledge said: “I’m always coming across some really amazing bourbons during the selection process, and for this special release I was presented with quite the challenge to make a selection worthy of toasting our 125th year. I’m thrilled to say this bourbon does just that.”

In celebration of its landmark anniversary, Four Roses declared that 2013 would be the ‘Year of the Toast’ and asked consumers to send their own personal toasts to a dedicated website – yearofthetoast.com. A selected winning toast will then feature on the 2014 Limited Edition Single Barrel bottle.

Approximately 8,000 bottles of the new uncut and non-chill filtered release will be available in September to U.S. markets.

The Spirits Business reported last month that Four Roses joined six other Kentucky Bourbon distilleries in creating a unique charity blend featuring whiskies from each distillery in aid of the Parker Beam Promise of Hope Fund.
