Distell strengthens travel retail team

Distell is investing in the future of its travel retail business by appointing a senior executive as its new managing director of duty free.

Distell has appointed Marius Fouché to the role of managing director travel retail

The South Africa-based group, which earlier this year acquired Burn Stewart Distillers, has appointed current managing director for Asia Pacific Marius Fouché as head of its duty free business.

Distell claims its travel retail arm has performed so well over the past six months, increasing sales volumes by double digits, it has decided to strengthen its travel retail team, which presently includes general manager Robyn Bradshaw who will now be free to focus more on marketing and activation.

“We need additional expertise to unlock further potential in travel retail, particularly with the growth of Distell’s spirits portfolio and the growing profile of our drive wine brands, notably Nederburg,” said Bradshaw. “Marius comes with extensive global experience.”

Bradshaw joined the group in 2002 and previously worked in the international wine marketing division. Fouché meanwhile has been with Distell for 22 years. Both will be available at TFWA Cannes in October, at stand E30 Yellow Village.

The announcement comes shortly after the acquisition of Burn Stewart, whose brands include Bunnahabhain, Deanston, Tobermory and Ledaig Scotch.
