Balcones launches first single barrel Bourbon in the UK

In celebration of its fifth anniversary, Balcones is launching what it claims is the first ever single barrel of Texas Bourbon in the UK.

Only 10 bottles of the anniversary expression will be made available to UK consumers

Only 10 bottles of Balcones Fifth Anniversary Single Barrel Bourbon will be available to UK consumers exclusively through online whisky retailer Master of Malt from mid-September.

Balcones Bourbon is crafted from the first barrel of Bourbon the distillery ever produced, and is also North Texas’s first ever artisan Bourbon.

Chip Tate, president and head distiller at Balcones, said: “It seemed fitting that Balcones release a true artisan, craft Bourbon made by me start to finish here in Texas to celebrate Balcones’ five years in craft distilling.

“Authenticity is at the heart of any great craft and this is our attempt to make that point through our whiskey. It is also just fun to keep little surprises up your sleeve.”

The limited edition is the first of four experimental single cask expressions which will be launched as part of Balcones’ birthday celebrations. Set for release later this year is a whiskey formed from the ashes of blue corn atole, a straight corn whisky, and a straight single malt whiskey.

“We are delighted to be exclusively selling this Balcones Bourbon in the UK,” said Ben Ellefsen of Master of Malt. “Our consumers are increasingly looking for interesting, unique small batch spirits and appreciate the value of them.

“They want a story and a personality behind what they buy. This special Bourbon fits these credentials perfectly.”

Balcones Fifth Anniversary Single Barrel Bourbon – which carries an abv of 64.4% – will go on sale in the UK in mid-September at an RRP of £95.
