Long live the King! As Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrate the birth of their first-born child, Britain and the Commonwealth are raising a glass to our future monarch, but which drink to toast the royal baby with?

Prince William and Kate Middleton are celebrating the birth of their royal baby, drink a toast to them!

Bars and some spirit brands have been quick to dream up quirky cocktails to mark the occasion, most featuring Champagne for celebrating and some thoroughly British spirit for heritage purposes.

But if you’re not in a cocktail mood, there are plenty of other fitting drinks to fill your glass with and raise with a ‘hurrah’ that the royal baby has arrived, and that the media circus surrounding the Duchess of Cornwall’s pregnancy will finally come to an end.

Take a flick through the following pages to discover which are the most fitting drinks to toast the royal baby.

Royal Salute

Salute the Royal Family with a dram from the Royal Salute collection. With the most affordable expression coming in at £90 a bottle, you can be sure you’ll be toasting the new baby in style. If you want to spend a little more, you can always lump for the Royal Salute Tribute to Honour, which is currently available from The Whisky Exchange for £150,000.

The Macallan Royal Marriage

If you can get your hands on a dram of The Macallan Royal Marriage, first released in April 2011, raise a glass to Kate and William’s first born. Created to commemorate the royal couple’s wedding, just 1,000 bottles were released at £150 each.

Pimm’s

Yesterday Pimm’s o’clock was at 4.24pm, the time Kate and William’s baby was born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London. The quintessentially British liqueur is a perfect tipple to wet the baby’s head, just don’t forget the lashings of British summertime strawberries and fruit.

Johnnie Walker Black Label

John Walker & Sons was grants a Royal Warrant by King George V, which has since been repeated by every monarch since. Toast the new royal baby with a glass of Johnnie Walker Black Label, one of the brands more notable expressions, which was first created by Alexander Walker in 1909.

Royal Delivery

Head down to a Drake & Morgan venue of your choice for a free ‘Royal Delivery’ cocktail featuring Snow Queen vodka to wet the royal baby’s head. One free drink will be made for each person when one other cocktail is purchased from the menu.

Gordon’s Gin

Reputedly the Queen Mother’s favourite gin, and a go-to for Queen Elizabeth II herself, this London Dry Gin is the way to go if whisky and cocktails aren’t your thing. Gordon’s was also awarded a Royal Warrant by King George V in 1925.

Dubonnet

A favourite of both the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II, who took their Dubonnet with a splash of gin and a slice of lemon. The Queen is said to enjoy a Dubonnet and gin before lunch every day. We know what she’ll be toasting the royal baby with today then.

The HRH

In anticipation of the birth of our future King, Tanqueray went ahead and created a signature cocktail for the baby boy.

The HRH
1.25 oz Tanqueray London Dry Gin
.5 oz simple syrup
.5 oz lemon juice
