By Becky PaskinA new vodka-based Moscato liqueur has been launched in the US to capitalise on the growing consumer trend for Moscato in cocktails.
Smoke liqueur is positioning itself as an RTD, despite suggesting the drink be “mixed into a delicious cocktail”Smoke liqueur is a blend of premium vodka, pineapple, coconut and Moscato, presented in a frosted white Champagne bottle.
Designed to be mixed into cocktails or served over ice, Smoke is being marketed as a premium “lifestyle brand” that “celebrates luxury and status”, and is “poised to quickly become a spirits leader”.
Zev Norotsky, brand spokesperson for Smoke, said the liqueurs’ stand-out qualities are its “taste, packaging and innovation”.
“Smoke was born from a deep understanding of the rich cultural narratives that influence our lives from the streets to the suites and beyond.”
The brand claims it combines two of the most popular spirits trends – RTDs and Moscato – despite suggesting Smoke be served mixed into cocktails. According to Smoke, sales of Moscato grew 70% in 2012.
