Buffalo Trace releases Stagg Jr. Bourbon
Buffalo Trace is releasing a younger version of its award-winning George T. Stagg Bourbon, named Stagg Jr.
Stagg Jr is a younger version of Geroge T. Stagg, which is aged for approximately 15 years
The Kentucky distillery plans to release several batches of its Stagg Jr. each year, although stock will be limited so as not to impact supply of George T. Stagg.
The first batch of Stagg Jr. is comprised of barrels aged for eight to nine years, and bottled uncut and unfiltered at 67.2% abv.
Master distiller Harlen Wheatley describes Stagg Jr. as having “rich, sweet, chocolate and brown sugar flavours mingled in perfect balance with a bold, rye spiciness. The boundless finish lingers with hints of cherries, cloves and smokiness.”
Stagg Jr. will be available in the US from August at a RRP of US$49.99 for a 750ml bottle.
Earlier this year Buffalo Trace warned that fans of its whiskeys would experience stock shortages, most notably of Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon for the next couple of years.
