Master of Malt plans treasure hunt
By SB Staff WriterThis year’s Islay Whisky Festival, or Feis Ile, will be the scene of three competitions courtesy of Master of Malt.
The online retailer will be running the competitions, tastings, promotions and giveaways during its nine-day visit to the festival from 24 May to 2 June.
The competitions have been designed to celebrate the launch of a new expression That Boutique-y Whisky Company, a Caol Ila.
The first competition involves flagging down the “Malt Mobile” (pictured) at any available opportunity during the festival.
Driven by the Master of Malt team, the Landrover will be touring Islay during the Feis Ile. “Flaggers” will be handsomely rewarded with T-shirts, Islay “treats” and samples of the new Caol Ila.
Also to be found is stuffed toy dog “Peaty”, who has been hidden at a distillery. Finders may get to keep him as a reward and will definitely get a full bottle of Caol Ila.
Finally, on 24 May a treasure hunt to find 12 bottles “from the future” washed up on the beaches will begin.
The bottles contain secret messages from Dr E Brown that were sent on 5 November 1955.
Clues will be uploaded via Twitter and a “grand prize” is up for grabs, being immortalised on the label of the next release from That Boutique-y Whisky Company – a single malt Laphroaig.
