Diageo invests £1m in Talisker visitor centre
Diageo has opened a new £1 million visitor centre at its Talisker Distillery on the Isle of Skye.
Talisker Distillery’s new visitor centre is now open
The visitor centre, which last year hosted just under 60,000 pilgrims as the busiest in Diageo’s stable, has been thoroughly revamped ahead of the tourist season this year.
A new welcome area has been created along with an enhanced viewing gallery in one of the distillery warehouses and new tasting rooms.
Talisker distillery manager Mark Lochhead said: “We are absolutely delighted with the investment we have made here at Talisker and with the new facilities we have created.
“Talisker is going from strength to strength as a brand and the distillery is growing in popularity with people coming from all over the world to visit the home of our iconic single malt.
“The new visitor centre gives us a wonderful stage to tell the story of Talisker with its rich history and heritage and also to give our visitors a really high quality experience which matches the unique whisky we make here.
Last week it was announced that the UK-based drinks group would be building a new £50m Scotch whisky distillery in Teaninich, in the Highlands, as part of plans to invest £1bn in increasing its Scotch production over the next five years.
