Cruzan “fills a void” with Key Lime and Passion Fruit rums

Cruzan rum has released two new flavours – Key Lime and Passion Fruit – in a bid to “fill a void” in the category and provide innovative mixing options for cocktails.

The flavours are aimed at providing fresh options for cocktails

The two new editions add natural flavourings and cane sugar to Cruzan rum, which is made using tropical rainwater gathered on the distillery’s home island of Saint Croix in the US Virgin Islands, to create what Cruzan describe as a “smooth, refreshing and authentic” spirit.

Gary Ross, senior director of rum and cordials at Cruzan’s owners Beam Inc, said the new flavours were perfect for cocktails and would provide new options for mixers.

“Cruzan is recognized for its portfolio of high-quality rums and refreshing flavours, and we’re always looking to expand with new and unique flavours that appeal to rum lovers,” he said.

“Key Lime Rum and Passion Fruit Rum fill a void in the world of flavoured rums by providing new, innovative mixing options for cocktails, just in time for the warmer weather.”

The new recipes were handcrafted by master distiller Gary Nelthropp, whose family have been producing rum on the Caribbean island for generations. The Key Lime flavour is described as “tangy and sweet”, while the Passion Fruit blend is characterised by undertones of peach and caramelised sugar.

The new products come with an RRP of US$14.99 for a 750ml bottle.
