Bacardi Pineapple Fusion “first of its kind”

Bacardi’s new flavoured rum combines pineapple and coconutThe release, which was first revealed in the States in February during the NBA All-Star game, combines the flavours of pineapple and coconut in a rum, believed to be the first of its kind.
Toby Whitmoyer, vice president and brand managing director of Bacardi USA’s rum category, said the company was proud to be the first on the market to offer such a product.
“We were inspired by the fusion of pineapple and coconut rums to deliver an integrated ‘fusion’ platform that resonates with our target consumers by combining sports, music and great cocktails,” he said.
To help promote the new flavour, Bacardi has teamed up with the basketball discussion and analysis programme NBA on TNT to produce a new feature, ‘Highlight Mix presented by Bacardi Pineapple Fusion’. The segment airs every week until 16 May on NBA on TNT and pairs footage of the best of the night’s basketball action with music chosen by DJ Irie.
Bacardi Pineapple Fusion is available in volumes ranging from 50ml to 1.75 litres with a recommended retail price of US$14.99 for the 750ml bottle.
