Rafael Nadal joins Bacardi’s responsible drinking campaign

Bacardi has teamed up with tennis-star Rafael Nadal to encourage and promote responsible drinking as part of its Champions Drink Responsibly campaign.

As ambassador for the campaign, the tennis star has helped Bacardi launch new initiative The Champions’ Party – a competition giving consumers the chance to attend a VIP party in Spain along with Nadal – ahead of the Mexican open in Acapulco this week.

Open until 18 April, the competition is inviting Mexican consumers of legal drinking age to answer three questions related to responsible drinking behaviour. The person who answers the questions the quickest will win a place for them plus a friend to the party.

Paolo Perego, regional president for Bacardi Latin America said the group chose Nadal to be its Bacardi Limited global social responsibility ambassador as he “embodies the values of the Champions Drink Responsibly campaign”, which first launched in Mexico in 2008.

“We are proud that Bacardi launched its first social responsibility advertising campaign in Mexico more than 80 years ago,” he added. “The core message of drinking responsibly remains as the foundation, but in 2013 we are utilizing ‘Champions Drink Responsibly’ social media channels to get the message across in a fun and engaging way.”
