Buffalo Trace vodka launched in UK

Buffalo Trace has launched a limited edition vodka in the UK – HDW CLIX – named after master distiller Harlen Wheatley.

Buffalo Trace’s HDW-CLIX vodka is now in the UK in limited quantities

HDW CLIX is named after the initials of its master distiller and the Roman numerals for 159 – the number of times the vodka has been distilled.

Wheatley used red winter wheat, rye, corn and barley to create 2,000 bottles, which was first launched in the US in November 2011.

The super-premium vodka, which carries an RRP of £299, is being distributed in the UK by Hi-Spirits. It comes presented in a crystal decanter and wooden case, with both a wooden and crystal stoppers.

“Understandably, the interest we’re getting is from top end bars and specialist drinks retailers,” said Jeremy Hill, chairman of Hi-Spirits. “Some bars want to serve HDW CLIX in a premium cocktail, while retailers expect it to appeal to collectors. It will definitely be a talking point for customers, and we don’t expect to have our allocation in stock for very long.”
