Glenfiddich reveals third Age of Discovery release
Glenfiddich has revealed that the third release in its Age of Discovery series is a red wine cask finish.
The third release of Glenfiddich’s Age of Discovery series is a 19-year-old red wine cask finish.
The 19-year-old single malt whisky, a homage to the expeditions of Charles Darwin, has been finished in 200-litre casks previously used to hold South American red wine, including Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and is bottled at 40% abv.
As such, the whisky has a sweet, berry taste with spicy vanilla notes and a smooth finish. The new edition has been unveiled to passengers on board the Cinderella Viking Line Whisky Cruise in Sweden this week.
Its release follows that of the Madeira cask and Bourbon cask editions in the Age of Discovery series, which is exclusively available in travel retail.
The Darwin edition will now be rolled out into global travel retail with an RRP of £75.
