Buffalo Trace pop-up hits Brighton

The Buffalo Trace Bourbon Empire pop-up, a popular feature of London Cocktail Week (LCW) 2012, will open in Brighton, UK at the end of this month.

Buffalo Trace’s popular London Cocktail Week speakeasy is coming to Brighton

UK distributor Hi-Spirits worked with consultancy The Cocktail Service to transform a former Butcher’s shop in Covent Garden into a two-floor speakeasy serving classic American cocktails for LCW in October.

More than 7,000 drinks were served to over 3,500 customers at the Bourbon Empire over three weeks, with a further 200 people attending Buffalo Trace masterclasses, which included sessions with master blender Drew Mayville.

Following its success, Buffalo Trace is preparing to open a two-week pop-up at The Wick Inn in Brighton from 25 January to 9 February, and plans to replicate the experience in other locations around the UK in the months ahead.

Situated upstairs at the central Brighton pub, the second incarnation of the popular Buffalo Trace speakeasy, again created by The Cocktail Service, will be replicated entirely, with the same cocktails on offer, including the Sazerac and Buffalo Mojito, the Boilermaker and Pickleback.

A range of Prohibition-themed bar games will also be on offer, including Craps, Toss the Boss and roulette.

Sue Hill, director at Hi-Spirits, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Buffalo Bourbon Empire to Brighton & Hove to build on our successful debut in London last year. The pop-up concept is a great way to spotlight Buffalo Trace’s award-winning whiskeys and versatile serves to bar professionals as well as consumers.”

Hi-Spirits intends to tour the pop-up to other locations around the UK in the near future, although nowhere has been confirmed as yet.
